Gravure Printing Machine

The basic design is made from the point of view of machine-operator and is user friendly. The print view and inspection is made easy by providing peculiar view angle for that purpose. Oil-dipped Helical Spur gear box for the transmission makes the machine run smoothly and silently. The air circulation through silent blowers makes the efficiency of the print drying faster and with less pressure on the substrate, reduced noise, and less electrical power.

The initial tasks like loading of cylinders, loading of rolls, register synchronization are made easy. Once printed cylinders can be reloaded and printed with out going through much of the register synchronization tasks and avoids wastage of substrate.  

Distributed Control Panel : In normal machines the electrical controls of different drives are placed on a control panel which is separated from the machine and placed and the back of the operator side. The Rotogravure Printing Machine are very long in size, the operator has to come to the control panel for every operation of the control like on /off drives to boost up its power and down and the likewise operations. Similarly on emergency the operator has to run to the control panel to take immediate action. In Hyden Machine, the control panel is distributed through each printing unit and winding station. Almost all operations can be done from any control panel because clone switches are given for almost all operations. The operator can do any operation from any point where the operator is standing just by a stretch of hand.

The built-in distributed control panels are extremely comfortable for the operators. Almost all the basic operations on run-time can be done from any of the panel attached to each printing units. The operator can on / off any drive like winding drive, main-drive, dryer-air-circulators, lights etc., increase / decrease the winding torque, speed of main-drive etc., adjust web alignment etc., from any control panel. Power distribution is from very safe buss-bars supported by high quality MCB and circuit terminators. The electrical equipment like dimmer state, rectifiers etc. are isolated from machine and are enclosed in separate cabin placed suitably away from operation side. Necessary pilot lamps are provided so that the status of the machine and switches can be ascertained at any point of time.

 

Optional Accessories : 

Web Tension Controller : Micro processor controlled Web Tension Controller is typical attachment for accurate maintenance of print registration. Irrespective of the feed roll size the tension of the web will be maintained uniformly through out printing session using electronic tension sensors. Micro computer based electronic system assure the accuracy of the operation.

Web Aligner : The attachment can be mounted at the feed section and/or at the winding section. If attached at the feed section, it will assure the ahgnment of the feed rolls even if the feed roll is slipped or is not properly wound for use in printing machines. One edge of the feed film is sensed by air sensors (pneumatically) or by electronic light sensors and the feed roll is aligned and adjusted to the main web line. If it is fitted to the winding section, it will assure the perfect wound rolls in the out put, even if the feed rolls are defective in winding, or if some operational mistake occurred so that it may vitiates the proper winding. It will help the subsequent use of the printed rolls in automatic packing machines.

Micro processor Controlled Automatic Register Controls are available as optional accessory. This eliminates the viewing error at high speed printing and assures the accurate register of all colours resulting very high quality print out put.

Slitting Attachment : To slit feed roll or printed roll into smaller rolls. Can be attach to the winding station of the printing machine.

Lamination attachment : To laminate two or three layers of film, foil or paper together using suitable adhesive. For coating adhesive the printing unit is used and separate nipping and queering attachments are made into the machine to make the operation possible. This reduces the factory space and cost considerably if separate machines are provided for printing and lamination.

Split ability of the machine : Hyden printing machine can be split into two to act as two separate printing machines. Thus on a six colours printing machine we can do either a single colour and a five colour job simultaneously OR a two colour and four colour job OR two three colour jobs simultaneously. The splitting operation is made very simple and requires only few minutes to make the machine ready for doing two print jobs and viz.
This enable the machine to give double output.

Universal Reversibility : The machine is universally reversible to print on both side of the printing format. To print on Poly film tubes to make poly bags both side printing is necessary. The available printing units can be separated in any configuration to reverse for the other side printing. The adjustments to reverse the machine convenient to print on both sides is well designed so that the operation will take only very little time.

Different attachment can be mounted on Hyden Printing Machine for specific purposes. These attachments reduce the cost if separate machines are provided for that purposes.

GRAVURE PRINTING UNIT
FOR INLINE PRINTING ON EXTRUDER

This is a Gravure printing unit without drive. This was specially made for in line printing of pepsi tube & statutory text on carrier bags. This Gravure unit is placed after the treatment unit & just before the rewinding unit. This is the only process to print sharp & quality text on the web, as compared to Flexo printing. In long runs it is found to be very economical also. In line printing to the Extrusion avoid an extra process of printing. This avoids the extra cost of printing machine with good tension controlled rewinders. As the latest bag making machines accepts the 24” to 30” diameter rolls.

This unit is Machined & Fabricated from 15 mm MS Plate. Heavy construction made, vibration less to suit 40 m/min printing speed.

HYDEN Pilot Coating Machine is a small modular machine, which allows to use different coating systems (Meyer-bar, knife over roll, air knife, hot-melt slot die applicator) and consequently to reproduce many production technologies according to different substrates to use, products to apply and final items to make.

It Includes :

Single unwinding unit, with mechanical brakes and manual alignment set-up, by means of a pneumatic expansion shaft.
Meyer-bar, with coat width control edges and possibility to vary the feeding roll contact angle by changing film feeding roll position.

Sheet Fed Hot Melt Coating

The use of hot melt as a bonding adhesive in the industry has been transformed over the past few years and is gradually replacing conventional solvent or water-based systems and flame lamination. Hot melts as bonding adhesives are based on polymers or their compounds, which are formulated to the specific requirement of the application, e.g. melting temperature, initial tack, curing time and crystallization.

The absence of solvents, volatile parts and water, offers an environmentally friendly operating process, and since no additional heating energy is required to evaporate water or solvent and the curing takes place by ambient air temperature or by the humidity of the ambient air, no drying or curing ovens are necessary.

Gravure coating is an old technique whose versatility has been increased by recent technology developments. The gravure coating process relies on an engraved roller running in a coating bath, which fills the engraved dots or lines of the roller with the coating material. The excess coating on the roller is wiped off by the Doctor Blade and the coating is then deposited onto the substrate as it passes between the Engraved roller and a Pressure Roller. This feature is use of conventional gravure. This results in stable bead, which when combined with lamination application gives very good quality and a constant coating weight. A typical configuration is shown in the diagram above.

The gravure coating head consists of a gravure roller and a doctor blade system where the hotmelt adhesive is placed. Both parts are circuit oil heated for an excellent temperature distribution. The gravure of the roller exactly determines the desired uniform add-on and the pattern on the substrate. This is required for minimum coating weights, good bonding strength and soft touch.

Hotmelt adhesives for HYDEN lines are usually melted off-line, in special melting units. For the thermoplastic adhesives an extruder or a tank melter is necessary.

The rotogravure system is the best acceptable coating method, and a must for breathable membranes. Manufacturers of foam/textile laminates for automotive interiors have also recently started using the rotogravure as the best alternative to flame lamination. A tremendous choice of gravures allows an optimal selection of coating patterns and weights. The coating patterns range from regular geometric patterns to random dots and nets and other optical effects.

This machine is designed to slit a wide variety of materials and is ideally suited to papers, fabrics, laminates and films including Polypropelene, PVC & polyester. The machine has 2 rewind shafts that are driven through a variable speed motor and are controlled from a slipping clutch to give good control of tension.

The machine is built to a high specification and is a sturdy self standing unit. The machine comes as standard with razor cut knives. The slit pattern is very easily adjusted and very quick to change. The machine can also be supplied with shear cut, crush cut or heat cut knives as an option. The unwind can be fitted with an automatic edge guide that will be fitted with sensor. Other options include electronic tension control and web cleaning, Detect the edge of the product and ensure a good rewind, The machine can be fitted with lay on rollers to give a good rewind. Rewind tension uses differential clutches that are end loaded using pneumatic cylinders. Air shafts can be fitted for locked core winding if required. The rewind can be configured with swing out cantilevered shafts at no extra cost if required. Infrared Drier

Infra red drying

Drying of water and water-based lacquers requires a lot of heat energy to remove water. Hence, the line speeds of water based coatings were few meters per min.

HYDEN developed this new technique in 1999; It uses Infra red energy created by LPG & by directly drying the coating. It saves lot of energy & gives four times more line speeds. Know, this process of drying is used for wide web widths of 100” to as narow as 12” web widths.

The electromagnetic energy that is emitted by all bodies above -273°C (0°K or absolute zero) is called infrared energy. When infrared energy strikes an object it causes the surface electrons to excite and oscillate. This oscillation creates heat. As this energy is transmitted through Radiation; It directly heats the surface of the coated web. Air is virtually transparent to IR radiation. IR radiation is neither absorbed nor scattered by air. If the air between the emitter and the product contains water vapor or other absorbing gases, it could absorb a portion of the IR radiation. Hence, the vapour created due to the heat of IR is removed by a flood of air continuously. Without loosing the energy.

For other coatings, get the required high temperatures reliably through infrared. This makes the drying processes considerably faster compared to traditional methods like hot air drying.
