Cooling Tower Motors

INTRODUCTION

Cooling tower applications present an extremely harsh environments the fan motors are often installed in 100% humid environments. They are available in Totally Enclosed Air Over enclosures for mounting in the air stream and Totally Enclosed Fan Cooled enclosures for mounting outside the air stream.

INTRODUCTION

Flame proof motors are equipment which can perform safely in the following conditions:

Hazardous Area

An installation where inflammable products are continually handled, processed or stored requires special care to ensure the maintenance of property and the personnel safety.

Based on their characteristics, electric equipment can become ignition sources causing sparks, when opening or closing contacts or due to overheating of any component, caused intentionally or originated by fault currents.

Explosive Atmosphere

An atmosphere is considered explosive when the proportion of gas, vapour, dust, fibres, or flyings is such that after sparking caused by short-circuit or overheating of one component causes an ignition and explosion. Three elements are required for an explosion to occur:

Brake Motors

FEATURES

Brake motors are ideal for applications that require immediate, accurate and safe stops, position control and energy saving. The brake motor is suitable for many different applications, such as load elevators, hoists, shears, machining equipment, looms, packaging machines, conveyors, washing and bottling machines, bending machines, among others.

The brake motors are simple & rugged & so easy for maintenance. No separate DC supply is required as the rectifier is provided which gives the required DC voltage for energisation of the brake. The rectifier is mounted inside the main terminal box so no separate terminal box required.

Slip Ring Motor

INTRODUCTION

Designed basically for heavy duty use with driven machine imposing overloads and severe mechanical shocks and vibrations. These motors are equally suitable for smooth constant loads since the motors are also designed with high efficiency and power factor. Because of optimum utilisation of materials, with improved ventilation techniques the motors are 10 – 15% lighter in weight and yet more rugged because of their inherent special construction.

Because of high Pull Out Torque and inherent thermal margin kept for high slip operation (with suitable external resistance) these motors are ideally suited for rerolling mills and cane cutter/cane crusher/cane leveller/cane fiborizer applications pertaining to sugar industries. Because of high efficiency and power factor these motors are also suitable for pump/fan compressor applications.

Torque Motors

INTRODUCTION

Torque Electric motors are induction motors designed for applications which require occasional or prolonged stall, or controlled applications nearly stalled. The basic difference between a torque motor & a standard induction motor is in the shape of the speed torque curve and thermal capacity to withstand locked rotor currents. Torque motors are rated at locked rotor torque where standard motors are rated in horsepower.

A standard squirrel cage motor tries to maintain the speed as it is loaded while a Torque motor will drop in speed as it is loaded. The desired speed can also be achieved by varying supply voltage.

CONSTRUCTION

Torque motors are normally induction motors of toroidal construction. Their main differences from other similar motors are their wide diameters, to allow for high levels of torque, and their thermal performance, to allow their continuous operation while drawing high current in a stalled state.

Torque motors suitable for 415V±10%, 50Hz±5%, combined ±10%, 3 phase supply, foot mounted (B3 construction), ambient temperature 50°C, Class 'F' insulation, IP55 protection, continuous rated (S1 duty) with bare shaft & key as per IS: 325 / IEC: 60034-1.

INTRODUCTION

TEFC Squirrel cage induction HV Motors comply with the requirements of IEC 34-1, the relevant parts of BS4999 and BS5000, IS:325 & other relevant Indian standards. They are designed for continuous duty corresponding to Duty Type S1 of IEC 34-1 and BS4999, part 101 section 3, with a temperature rise by resistance not exceeding 80K in a maximum ambient temperature of 40°C.

Smoke Spill Motor

INTRODUCTION

Smoke spill motors are designed to withstand required operation at elevated temperature. Smoke Extraction Motors comply mechanically and electrically with the requirements laid down European Standard – EN12101-3 (Specification for powered smoke and heat exhaust ventilators).

Motors in conformity with this standard are able to provide daily ventilation, as well as for driving smoke extraction fans in a fire/emergency condition. In fire emergency condition, they must be effective in creating a smoke-free area near the floor allowing possible evacuation and rescue of people and animals, as well as ensuring property protection and allowing that fires could be fought in their initial stages. These systems also help eliminating hot gases produced by combustion in the first stages of the fire.
