Gilbert & Maxwell commenced operations in 1974 as a tiny proprietorship company.
Mr. Nishigandh Deshpande, a technocrat, was the founder of the Maxilon Group and was the first to introduce Core-Balance Current Transformers (CBCT) in India. He has also introduced multi-ratio universal Interposing CTs as import substitution for ABB, Siemens and English Electric ( now Alstom)
It has now grown in to a sizeable operation as a family owned Private Limited company registered with the Registrar of Companies, Government of India.
The company is owned and managed by Technocrats with a very long experience in the flied of Electrical Power. The group turnover is about INR 12.0 crores
The products of the company are well received in the Indian market and have been approved by most of the major consulting engineering companies in the country, power utilities and EPC contractors..
Multi-nationals like ABB , Siemens, Schneider , GE and Alstom are our regular patrons. Major Indian electrical manufacturers like Larsen & Toubro Ltd., Controls & Switchgear and several other switchboard manufacturers have been our regular customers for the past 30 years.

NTPC, NPC, IOCL, GIPCL, IPCL, GACL, GSFC, GMCIL, GE PLASTICS etc
Most of the manufacturing activity is done in-house. Facilities for carrying out Routine Test as per IS are also available in-house. Routine test for compliance with IEC, BS or other national standards is done at customer's request. The company has a regular R & D programme. New products are introduced regularly. Products have been Type Tested for compliance with relevant IS / IEC at ERDA - Baroda or CPRI Bangalore which are internationally recognized Testing & Certification Laboratories.
