| Multigrade Sand Filters |
The MGF works on principle of retention and removal of physical impurity in a graded manner through Voids of the filtering media. It is a kind of a deep filter bed with adequate pore dimensions for retaining both large and small suspended solids and un-dissolved impurities like dust particles. This arrangement produces a filter bed with adequate pore dimensions for retaining both large and small suspended particles. This filter performs at a substantially higher specific flow rate than conventional filters.It is also a low cost pre-treatment system for ion exchangers (deionizer and softener) and membrane systems such as reverse osmosis etc. With high throughputs, high dirt-holding capacity and capacity to reduce turbidity and TSS (< 5ppm) from water, it protects ion-exchange resins and membranes from physical fouling due to suspended impurities present in the water.

| Ultra Filtration |
Ultrafiltration employs the use of a porous fiber that filters out most unwanted constituents in feed water. These membranes have pore sizes in the range of 0.01 to 0.1 microns. There are several types of ultrafiltration membranes such as hollow fiber membranes and spiral wound membranes. As an example, a spiral-wound membrane consists of flat sheets wrapped in a spiral configuration similar to a reverse osmosis membrane. The pores in a hollow fiber membrane or spiral wound membrane should be consistently on the order of 0.1 to 0.2 µm in size.Ultrafiltration provides the end user with the ability to consistently and efficiently remove suspended solids, bacteria, yeast, some viruses, and harmful biological contaminants such as Giardia Lamblia and Cryptosporidium from feed water. Typical fiber material is dependant on the manufacturer and application but can be commonly found in PVDF (Polyvinylidenefluoride), Polyacrylonitrile, or Polyethylene. Material choice can be dictated upon also considering the Molecular Weight Cutoff of the membrane material. A membrane containing a smaller MWCO provides better overall filtration.
Flocon Industries Ultrafiltration Systems are designed for removal of suspended solids including bacteria, endotoxins and high molecular weight molecules. This level of filtration offers many advantages, including reduced fouling of any downstream RO membranes and lower endotoxin burden on downstream equipment.The membrane filters can be provided individually or as part of a total water treatment solution. The control system for the membrane filters can be dedicated to the filter system or part of a total water system. Hollow-fiber membrane construction allows reverse flow backwash cycles to remove the accumulation of filtered solids.

| Water Softening |
Softening is an ion exchange process used to remove ions from the water that contribute to alkaline scale formation, primarily calcium and magnesium. As water containing these ions passes through the softening resin bed, the ions are exchanged with sodium ions residing on the surface of the resin. When no more sodium ions are left for this exchange process, the resin must be regenerated. Regeneration is accomplished with a brine solution of sufficient strength to cause an exchange between the sodium ions in the brine and the calcium and magnesium ions on the resin. Once regeneration is complete, the resin is ready to begin the softening cycle again.

| Electrodeionization |
EDI systems remove ionized and ionizable species from water using electrically active media and electrical potential (DC power) to affect ion transport. By using this type of purification technology, caustic and acidic types of chemicals are not required. The water which has been treated by RO-EDI has typically exceeded customer's high-purity standards. Electrodeionization system is a continuous electro-chemical process of water deionization where ion specific membranes, mixed bed resin and a DC voltage across them, replace the standard hazardous acid-caustic chemical regeneration process.
Electrodeionization (EDI) systems from Flocon Industries offer a cost-effective and sustainable solution for Generating High purity water with conductivity of less than 1 uS/cm.
