The Empee Group realized the importance of brands early on and has laid emphasis on creating brands that would form everlasting relationships with its consumers. With the unique nature of a brand or its personality forming the basis of its relationship with the customer, Empee has created signature products with wide ranging appeal. In today's crowded marketplace, the salience of a brand has gone up hundred fold and the role of brand building is well realized. Empee has invested ample time and resources in this regard and has come out with some outstanding products in its alcoholic beverages portfolio which are now the market leaders. This includes brands in the premium, mid level and economy segments.

The Group now has three modern manufacturing Facilities in three of the Southern States – Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala – and has plans to break further grounds at the national level.

Manufacturing Mantra

Every brand in the Empee liquor portfolio is a product of stringent manufacturing processes, from distillation to bottling; utmost attention to quality is maintained through every step of the way. The Group maintains its high production standards by keeping the entire process from blending, bottling to packing under strict quality control.

The Group has to its credit several well known labels covering all the three segment of the IMFL industry. Some of the signature brands are Empee’ Napoleon Brandy, Elcanso Premium Deluxe Brandy and Empee’s Premium Gold Whisky in the premium range; All Gold VSOP Brandy, Old Secret Brandy and Vodkas in the medium range and Old Secret XXX Rum in the low range. Efforts are on to release shortly new Super Premium Brands to cater to the niche upper crust clients.

For catering to the country’s fast growing Beer market, Empee has been on fast track. The Group already operates a most modern Brewery with 7.50 HL per annum capacity in Gummidipoondi Taluk, about 50 KMs from Chennai, under the name and style of Appollo Distilleries Pvt. Ltd, an associated concern of the Group. Andhra Pradesh, which is incidentally one of the largest Beer markets in the country, is the latest destination where the Empee Group is in the process of setting up a Brewery.

Besides this, plans are underway to have tie-up units in the States of Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal and Orissa. Empee is in negotiation with some new breweries that have come up in the recent past to acquire leased capacities in the States in which it does not possess licenses.

As backward integration of IMFL business and also forward integration of Sugar business, the Group currently has two Alcohol Plants.

Alcohol Plant (Molasses based), Andhra Pradesh

One is part of the Sugar Plant at Naidupet (AP) which is molasses based, with a capacity to produce 30,000 litres of Rectified Spirit and Extra Neutral Alcohol per day. Besides, in conjunction, an Ethanol manufacturing Plant of 30,000 litres per day is also in operation to cater to the needs of Oil Marketing Companies.

Alcohol Plant (Grain based), Andhra Pradesh

The second Plant, established by Empee Distilleries Ltd, is a Grain Based Extra Neutral Alcohol Plant, set up at Choutkur, Medak Dist, A P., in the year 2013. This state-of-the art manufacturing facility, with best of the equipments selected from reputed suppliers, has a capacity of 64 Kilo Litres per day. The Plant is designed to have efficient utilisiaton of services like steam, water, power etc, and has a most modern water recycling plant to achieve zero discharge of water. The Plant has built-in flexibility to utilise broken Rice, Maize, Shorghum and Bajra which are abundantly available in the region. The objective behind this Plant is to provide Extra Neutral Alcohol with better sensory values, much higher than conventional ENA produced from Molasses. Grain ENA is normally preferred for premium IMFL brands and with many multi-national brands setting up their own bottling Units in the country, the ENA produced here is assured of ready market at all times.

The Group has planned setting up two more IAPs shortly: One at Ambasamudram based on Molasses from own Sugar Plant, as part of forward integration of Sugar business and the Other in the neighbouring District, again Molasses based and as a part of backward integration of IMFL business.

As part of diversification Empee Group, in 1992, entered the Sugar business by establishing a Sugar Mill in Andhra Pradesh which over a period of time became an integrated Sugar Complex with down stream products like Molasses, Rectified Spirit / Extra Neutral Alcohol, Biomass Fertilizers and Power. The Naidupet Mandal in Nellore District was the chosen site and the development it has brought to this once dry land is an incredible success story in itself. Farmers in the region now have a steady cash crop in sugarcane and a host of allied industries have sprung up in and around the region.

The rich experience gained in developing and operating the Naidupet Sugar Complex paved the way for the Group to expand its Sugar Division. Thus borne its second integrated Sugar Complex at Ambasamudram, Tirunelveli District, in Tamil Nadu, which began operation in 2010. This Unit comprises of a 5000 TCD Sugar Mill, 50 MW Power Plant and 100 KLPD Ethanol Plan.

Today the Group operates two Sugar Mills with a total crushing capacity of 8500 Tonnes per day. These Plants are located in the States of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.

The firm belief in non-conventional energy led the Empee Group to set up wind turbine generation in Tirupur Dist, Tamilnadu which proved to be the precursor to the Group’s foray into the field of power generation.

Today, the Group generates Power in four locations with a combined output of over 82MW, such as;

Empee Power Co. (I) Ltd’s 20 MW Power Plant – a cogeneration Plant attached to the Sugar Mill at Naidupet, Andhra Pradesh.

Empee Sugars & Chemicals Ltd’s Independent Power Plant of 50 MW at Ambasamudram, Tamil Nadu.

Empee Distilleries Ltd’s Biomass Based Renewable Energy Power Plant of 10 MW at Pudukottai District, Tamil Nadu.

2.50 MW Capacity Wind Mills at Tirupur Dist operated by Empee Distilleries Ltd.

Empee's initial forays were in the restaurant and hospitality business. Over four decades of experience has enabled the Group to emerge as a formidable player in the hospitality segment.

The Group's jewel in the crown, "The Hilton Chennai", a landmark 204 room 5 Star Deluxe Hotel opened its portals for business in 2011. This prestigious venture is operated by the world renowned Hotel chain Hilton International, USA.

A 100 room business Hotel in Sriperumbudur, near Chennai, is also being planned. The Group has ambitious plans to open business hotels across key metros and mini metros and are scouting for ideal locations.
