It all began in 1926, when J N Marshall & Co a forerunner of Forbes Marshall started supplying accessories to a thriving textile industry in Ahmedabad. Forbes Marshall's focus on Energy Conservation dates back to our foundation in 1946 when we entered into the distribution of products for the effective and efficient use of steam. By using these products in process industries like textile mills, substantial savings were made in their fuel bills. By 1958, the first manufacturing unit was established in Kasarwadi, Pune, with a staff of 12 members. Today, Forbes Marshall has manufacturing facilities in four locations in India, the newest one in Chakan near Pune, under the Mega Project Scheme of the Government of Maharashtra.


Forbes Marshall had a steady growth after its inception in 1946.  In the same year, Forbes Marshall finalised a tie up with Cochran boilers for selling packaged boilers. In 1959, Spirax Marshall in joint venture with Spirax, UK began manufacturing of steam engineering products. Forbes Marshall is now one of the largest manufacturers of steam systems and accessories for optimisation of energy efficiency throughout the steam cycle. By using these products, process industries, can conserve energy and increase their output.

In 1962, building on the expertise gained through studying hundreds of process plants for energy conservation, giving recommendations for improvements, Forbes Marshall entered the field of control instrumentation by introducing a range of world class pH analyzers in a joint venture with Cambridge Instruments, UK and Polymetron, France, to manufacture a complete range of water quality analysers. KROHNE Marshall’s Vortex Flowmeter, soon became known as one of the most accurate and intelligent flowmeters in the world.  

Since 1984, Forbes Marshall has been associated with Shinkawa, Japan for vibration monitoring systems that provide complete early warning systems for potential problems in turbines and other rotating equipment. We introduced a range of control valves and desuperheating stations in collaboration with Arca Regler, Germany, since 1985. These control valves, when used with Forbes Marshall actuators, set a new standard in accuracy and reliability.    

In 1997, backed by specialised experience in energy conservation and process efficiency,  gained over the decades, we introduced Consultancy services for layout and detailed engineering of new process plants. 
The first boiler efficiency monitoring system, the Effimax was developed in 1998.
         
In 1998, we established a global presence with setting up of Forbes Marshall Inc. in the United States. Since then, we have established sales, manufacturing and customer support facilities worldwide.
An internationally certified flowmeter calibration test rig, the second largest in Asia, was set up by Krohne Marshall in Pune in 2003. This facility has the capability to calibrate flowmeters of upto 2000 mm ensuring unparalleled accuracy in flow measurement. 


In 2006, Forbes Marshall and Codel International UK, collaborated to make a range of pollution monitoring equipment. In 2014 Codel became a part of the Forbes Marshall group. We make Continuous Emission Monitoring Systems, dust monitors, gas analyzers, stack emission monitors and insitu oxygen analysers which are invaluable in monitoring the combustion process and the level of pollution.
Forbes Vyncke, a joint venture with VYNCKE, Belgium established in 2009, began manufacturing boilers,  in the range 5 TPH to 30 TPH, for green energy. We offer Steam, Hot Water Boilers, Thermic Fluid Heaters with patented combustion technologies for biomass, coal and boilers for special fuels.

In 2013, Forbes Solar was incorporated in a joint venture with Azure Earth GmBH, Germany to manufacture a revolutionary solar cogeneration combined heat and power system. It is a unique solution; both electrical as well as thermal outputs are generated from a single solar collector.
